Privacy Policy

ЗНО тести ("the App") is an iPhone and iPad application developed and operated by Vadim Katenin ("I", "me"); the name is Ukrainian for "ZNO Tests". This Privacy Policy explains what the App does and does not do with your information.

1. The short version

The App has no user accounts and no server of mine. Your answers, your scores, and how far through a test you got stay on your device — I never receive them. The App is free because it shows ads through Google AdMob, and it uses Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used. The App does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites, so on iOS 14.5 and later the advertising identifier is not available to it and the ads you see are non-personalised.

2. Information stored on your device

The App stores a small amount of information in its own storage on your device, using standard Apple frameworks:

• whether you have bought "remove ads" and whether you have unlocked the Biology question bank;
• a counter of how many times the App has been launched, used only to decide when to show the "rate the app" prompt.

Your answers and your progress through a test exist only while the test is open. None of this is sent to me, and all of it is removed when you delete the App.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Unless you have bought the ad-free version, the App shows banner, full-screen, and rewarded-video ads supplied by Google AdMob. To select and measure those ads, Google receives technical information from the device, such as the IP address, device type and operating system version, coarse location derived from the IP address, and interactions with the ad itself (that it was shown, that it was tapped).

Google acts as an independent controller of that information — it is collected by Google's SDK, not sent to me. Its handling is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and by Google's advertising terms. You can review and adjust the ad settings tied to your Google account at My Ad Center.

Buying the ad-free purchase stops the App from initialising the ads SDK, which stops this collection.

4. App Tracking Transparency and the advertising identifier

The App never presents the App Tracking Transparency prompt and never requests permission to track. On iOS 14.5 and later this means the advertising identifier (IDFA) is not available to the App or to the SDKs inside it, ads are served contextually rather than from a profile built about you, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking takes place through the App.

5. Analytics (Firebase)

The App includes Google Firebase Analytics, which records automatically collected events such as app opens, screen views, session length, and app updates. These are tied to a pseudonymous app-instance identifier generated on your device, alongside technical context such as device model, operating system version, language, and country derived from the IP address.

The App does not log any custom event, and it never sends Firebase your answers, your scores, which questions you got wrong, your name, your email address, or your contacts. I use the resulting aggregate numbers to see which subjects are actually used and whether a release broke something. Firebase's handling is described in Firebase's privacy documentation.

6. Notifications

If you allow notifications, the App can remind you to come back and do another test. These reminders are scheduled locally on your device — there is no push server, no device token is sent anywhere, and no one is notified about whether you act on them. You can withdraw the permission at any time in Settings → Notifications → ЗНО тести, and the rest of the App keeps working.

7. Purchases

The App offers two one-time in-app purchases: removing ads, and unlocking the Biology question bank. All billing is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. I never receive or store your payment details, card numbers, or billing address. Purchase status is verified on your device through Apple's StoreKit, and the result is stored locally as described in section 2. Apple separately provides me with aggregated, anonymised sales reports that cannot be used to identify an individual customer.

Your App Store purchase history is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

8. Location, contacts, camera, and other sensitive data

The App does not request or use your precise location, contacts, calendars, photos, camera, microphone, or health data. The only location-related information involved is the coarse, country-level location that Google derives from the IP address for the purposes described in sections 3 and 5, which is inherent to making any network request.

9. Links to other sites

The App contains links that open outside it — an occasional promotional banner and a link to the project's Instagram page. Once you follow such a link you are on someone else's service, governed by their privacy policy, not this one. Tapping an ad likewise takes you to the advertiser's own site or App Store listing.

10. Apple diagnostics and crash reports

The App does not contain a third-party crash-reporting SDK. If you have opted in to Share With App Developers in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may provide me with anonymised crash logs and performance metrics through App Store Connect. This is Apple's standard developer diagnostics programme, it is aggregated and not linked to your identity, and you can opt out of it at any time in the same settings screen.

11. Children's privacy

The App is built for students preparing for Ukraine's school-leaving examinations — ЗНО (External Independent Evaluation) and НМТ (National Multi-subject Test). It is not directed at children under the age of 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian with a privacy concern, contact me using the details in section 14. Because the App has no accounts, I generally cannot associate an email request with a particular installation.

12. Security

The information the App keeps on the device is protected by iOS data protection and your device passcode. Requests made by the advertising and analytics SDKs are encrypted in transit. No exam answers, scores, or other study content is transmitted at all.

13. Retention and your rights

Everything the App itself stores stays on your device until you delete the App. Data collected by Google through the AdMob and Firebase SDKs is retained under Google's own policies and settings, not mine.

Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. In practice:

• Stopping the advertising collection — buy the ad-free purchase, which prevents the ads SDK from starting, or delete the App.
• Google-held data — the ad settings tied to your Google account are managed at My Ad Center, and Google-wide data controls at your Google Account.
• Requests to me — write to [email protected]. The App has no accounts and does not send me your contact information, so I generally cannot connect an email request to one installation or to a specific pseudonymous analytics record.
• Do Not Sell or Share — I do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. As stated in section 4, the App does not request tracking permission.

14. Contact and data controller

15. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be reflected in the App's release notes.
